Roll-off containers for Livonia homes and jobsites
Livonia is a full thirty-six square mile township grid turned into a city, and after the tight blocks of the inner ring it feels like open country to a driver. Everything is laid out on the mile roads — Five, Six, Seven, Eight, with Middlebelt, Merriman and Farmington running the other way — and the subdivisions between them are 1950s through 1970s ranches, tri-levels and colonials on generous lots. Driveways are wide, aprons are proper poured concrete and there are no rear alleys anywhere. It is one of the simplest cities we deliver into and one of the busiest for homeowner projects.
What we know about working in Livonia
The work here is steady rather than dramatic. These houses are on their second or third owner and hitting the wave of updates that comes with that: kitchens, baths, basement finishes, deck rebuilds, roof tear-offs and the garage that has not been cleared since the kids left. Most of the stock is drywall era, so gut debris is lighter than what comes out of the pre-war grids closer in, though the early 1950s blocks near Five Mile still carry plaster. Lots are big enough that yard work is a real category, and Michigan's Part 115 ban keeps grass, leaves and brush out of a landfill, so that always goes as a separate clean load to an organics facility.

Getting a truck to you
I-96 west out of the yard and off at Middlebelt, Merriman or Newburgh, or Seven Mile straight across when the freeway is backed up. Fifteen to twenty minutes. Once we are in the subdivisions it is easy driving, wide streets and long driveways, and placement is rarely the constraint. The one thing we plan around is the school traffic on the mile roads at the wrong hour, which is why we like early drops here.

Permits, streets and placement in Livonia
On a private driveway in Livonia you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from MDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Wayne County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.
Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and Michigan EGLE publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Livonia. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Wayne County.

Dumpster Rental in Livonia — FAQs
Can I get a 30 or 40 yard on a Livonia driveway?
Usually yes, and this is one of the few places where that is a routine answer. Driveways are wide, aprons are solid and there is room to set the box square with the door where you need it. Protection boards still go down as standard. The limit is weight rather than footprint — a 40 full of plaster, tile or concrete cannot legally leave, so what goes in still decides the size.
What do I do with the brush and grass from a big yard clear-out?
It goes separately. Michigan bans yard clippings from landfill disposal under Part 115, so grass, leaves, brush and branches have to reach a composting or organics facility as a clean load with nothing mixed in. On a big Livonia lot that is often its own container. Keep it free of bags, dirt and fence panels and the whole thing runs smoothly. Confirm any unusual material with the state before you load it.
Is there alley access behind Livonia houses?
No. Livonia was platted as suburban subdivisions rather than a pre-war city grid, so there are no rear alleys to work from. Everything comes off the driveway or the street frontage. That is generally good news because the driveways are long and wide, but it does mean the container sits where you will see it, so tell us which side of the drive keeps it out of your way.
How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Livonia?
Livonia is about 9 miles west of our Meyers Road yard, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Livonia?
No. Livonia sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Detroit. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.
What size dumpster do most Livonia customers take?
A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving brick, block, concrete or a chimney, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
